Sakkarai Pongal

                                                                                            Ingridients:  

  • Raw rice(250g)
  • Moong dal(100g)
  • Jaggery(300g)
  • Cardamom powder(1tsp)
  • Edible camphor(small pinch)-optional
  • Ghee(3 tbsp)
  • Raisins(1 tbsp)
  • Cashews(2 tbsp)
  • Nutmeg(small pinch)-optional
  • salt(small pinch)-optional                                                                     

    Prepration   

            1.Dry roast the  moong dal untill it become golden brown  and keep it aside.
            2.Wash the rice twice or thrice.Add the rice and moong dal in pressure cooker with      four(4)  cup of water and cook it with 4-5 whistles.
                     
               3.Add the jaggery with 1 cup of water and heat it make the jaggery syrup and filter it to remove the impurities     
                4.Add this jaggery syrup with cooked rice and dal  mixture in pressure cooker keep the flame in sim blend it well ,keep it five minutes
               5. Add the ghee in a separate pan fry the raisins and cashews , add this with the pongal.add cardamom powder at this stage.


              6.If adding nutmeg powder and edible camphor add a pinch at this stage.Add 4 tbsp of ghee mix it well.switch off the flame .


              7.The sakkarai pongal is ready to serve.
