INGREDIENTS:

     1.Raw rice (250g)

     2.Yellow moong dal(150g)

     3.Ghee(2tbsp)

     4.Cumin seeds (1tsp)

     5.Black pepper(1tsp)

     6.Cashew nuts (12no.)

     7.Curry leaves

      8.Ginger(1/2tsp)grated

     9.Asafoetida powder (1/4 tsp)

     10.Salt

preparation:

1.Dry roast the moong dal,untill it become golden brown and keep aside

2.Wash the rice 2-3 times.Add the rice and moong dal,salt and add 4 cups of water in a Pressure cooker.cook it untill 4-5 whistles.When it is done, mash this nicely 


3.In a kadai add the ghee and cumin seeds, black pepper ,ginger,curry leaves saute for a few seconds.Add this with the mashed rice.

4.In a kadai add the ghee and cashew nuts and saute in a low flame till it becomes golden brown colour add this with the pongal.

5. yummy ven pogal is ready serve with cocunut chutney and sambar.
