TAMARIND RICE/PULI SADAM

                  TAMARIND RICE

Ingredients:

Dry roast powder:
·     Mustard seeds(2 tsp)
·     Black sesame(2tsp)
·     Pepper(2tsp)
·     Fenugreek seeds(1 1/2tsp)

Ingredients needed:
§ Cooked rice(2 cups)
§ Tamarind (50g)
§ Garlic (15no.)
§ Bengal gram(2 tbsp)
§ Peanuts(4 tbsp)
§ Mustard seeds(1 tsp)
§ Gingelly oil(50 ml)
§ Red chillies(8 no.)
§ Asafoetida(1/2 tsp)
§ Turmeric powder(1/4 tsp)
§ Chilli powder(1/4 tsp)
§ Curry leaves
§ salt(as needed)  

Prepration:

  •      At first soak the tamarind in 1 cup of water in 15 minutes and mash it well and strain it we will get the tamarind paste.

        1. Then prepare the dry roast powder:  Dry roast the mustard seeds, black sesame, pepper, fenugreek separately. Then let it cool down few minutes and dry grind this in a mixture grinder we will get the fine dry roast powder.
        2.  Take 2 cup of boiled rice and add 2 tbsp of gingelly oil in it an d mix it well.
          3.Heat a pan add gingelly oil (30 -40 ml) then add mustard seeds and let it pop.
           4. Then add Bengal gram and add peanuts roast it till get golden brown.
        5. Then add red chili and add curry leaves, turmeric powder.
        6. Add the tamarind paste and red chili powder, let it cook 10 minutes cook in a medium flame.
        7. Cook it become thick consistency with this add salt asafetida and dry roast powder cook it few seconds. Then switch off the flame.
        8.Add this mixture with the cooked rice and mix it well. Add two more tbsp of gingelly oil with the rice and mix it well. The yummy tamarind rice/puli sadam is ready to serve.
